Are you using ‘Pharmacy PGD / Red Box’ PGDs?

Any pharmacy using Pharmacy PGD / Red Box’ PGDs will not be able to use them from 11.05.2017.

Sonar Informatics is happy to support pharmacies transition to a PGD provider of their choice, by supporting pharmacies for 30 days with any PGD requirements that they previously had with Pharmacy PGD / Red Box’ PDGs.

  • Urgent update: If you are using ‘Pharmacy PGD / Red Box’ PGDs

    Red Box Healthcare Ltd (Red Box), trading as Pharmacy PGD, are closed. This means that all of their PGDs (Red Box PGDs) will no longer be legally valid, with effect from 11 May 2017. If you are using their PGDs, you must take urgent action as detailed below to ensure that your pharmacy business continues to operate safely and legally.

  • IMPORTANT - from Thursday 11 May 2017:

    • You cannot supply any treatment or administer vaccinations under Red Box PGDs
    • If you have already started a course of treatment/vaccinations for a patient under a Red Box PGD, you cannot continue with the course (unless you find a suitable alternative PGD provider)

  • Urgent action points

    • If you have already started a course of treatment/vaccinations for a patient under a Red Box PGD, you must refer the patient to their GP for assessment and potentially to obtain a prescription for the remainder of their course of treatment/vaccinations (unless you find a suitable alternative PGD provider).
    • Additionally, you must access the Red Box PGD online portal to download all your certificates, plus the PGD documents, and all other associated content. Also copy / download / note down all other important information. The portal will only be available for the next four weeks; after 7 June 2017, you will need to apply to Red Box by email to see your information.
    • All existing patient records of medication/vaccinations already supplied/administered under the Red Box PGDs must continue to be retained by the pharmacy; this is required for legal and clinical governance reasons.

    Sonar Informatics is happy to support pharmacies transition to a PGD provider of their choice, by supporting pharmacies for 30 days with any PGD requirements that they previously had with Pharmacy PGD / Red Box’ PDGs. In essence, we will set up FREE access to the PGD governance modules- record keeping etc. For any PGD’s for vaccinations however – we will need a valid CPR certificate (additional requirements may also apply for individual PGDs). Over that next 30 days we can agree pricing and give annual access.
